High potential and gifted education

At our school we are dedicated to recognising, and supporting, the unique strengths of students with high potential and gifted abilities. We understand that gifted children learn differently and need challenges that inspire their curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Our teachers design learning activities that go beyond the standard curriculum, offering tasks that challenge your child’s thinking, encourage problem-solving, and explore complex ideas at a pace that suits them. We regularly assess your child’s progress to ensure learning is personalised and goals are meaningful.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom

In our classrooms we promote a safe, supportive and encouraging environment where your child can take risks, think deeply and persevere through challenges. We use flexible groupings that allow your child to collaborate and share ideas with like-minded peers, fostering leadership and confidence.

In addition to academic growth, we focus on developing your child’s social and emotional strengths, providing positive feedback and helping them set personal goals that build resilience and confidence.

Our High Potential and Gifted Education program is committed to helping your child thrive by unlocking their full potential in a respectful and nurturing space where their abilities are celebrated and challenged.

Across our school

Our High Potential and Gifted Education program offers exciting opportunities for your child to grow their talents and interests across many areas, both within our school and across New South Wales.

At school and through small school alliances, your child can engage in STEM and coding activities that build essential skills for the future. They can take part in academic competitions and critical thinking workshops designed to challenge their minds and inspire creativity. Our visual arts showcases give students a chance to display their artistic talents, while whole-school inclusion and wellbeing initiatives help foster a supportive community where every child belongs.

Across NSW

Your child can also shine on the NSW stage through programs like The Premier’s Spelling Bee, which strengthens vocabulary and attention to detail in a fun, competitive environment. The Schools Spectacular and CAPERS are highlight events that celebrate diversity and creativity through performing arts, uniting students from across NSW public schools.

For those passionate about sports and leadership, the Premier’s Sporting Challenge encourages active participation with leadership opportunities and professional learning for our staff. PSSA events allows students to trial and compete at regional, state and national levels, building discipline, commitment and teamwork.

Additionally, our mentoring programs connect students with caring adults, including school alumni, who help build confidence, motivation, and important social skills.

Our school is committed to providing a wide range of opportunities that nurture your child’s talents, support their wellbeing, and prepare them for future success, all within a welcoming and encouraging environment.
